Priority Travel News: Flood warnings disrupt travel across Britain

Flooding has hit Britain once more following heavy rainfall, disrupting road and rail travel across the country. Sixty-two flood warnings were in place by mid-afternoon, including the River Ouze in Bedford and the Severn and Wye in the Midlands. The River Avon in Gloucestershire burst its banks on Friday and has as yet shown no sign of receding. However, the flooding is minor compared to last summer - when over 100 flood warnings were issued and as much as 127mm (5in) of rain fell in just twenty-four hours - and rainfall was less than the 40mm (1.6in) predicted by the Met Office.
